Review: Incandescent

Incandescent
Incandescent by River Savage

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great book! In the cavern of crappy MC books this one is on par with my faves. Kadence is an elementary school teacher and has noticed that Z, one of her good students, is having some behavioral changes. His father is the Phoenix Knight, President of the Knights Rebels MC. She and Nix have some serious chemistry to start, and it just takes off from there. As Pres, Nix is used to having women falling all over him, but Kadence is giving him nothing, he has to work for everything with her. She has a mouth as blue as his, and isn't shy about giving him shit. He is instantly in love. They both have pasts to deal with; Nix's ex doesn't seem to care about their son and his change in behavior, and Kadence's ex left her penniless and in the burn unit after a different MC torched her house looking for him. Nix has been successful in making the MC 100% legit, and Kadence has to deal with the self esteem of baring her scars to Nix. They were a great couple, and I loved how Nix was s upfront about his feelings. He knew he wanted Kadence and he never backed down from it. It was so refreshing! There was enough going on without that extra angst for these two. I don't know what the hell was going on with Kadence's best friend Holly and Sy from Knights Rebels, but it was something and I can tell it was hot and dramatical. I have to wait for that book to come out, but I think it's coming out soon. I can't wait!!

Review: His Secretary: Undone

His Secretary: Undone
His Secretary: Undone by Melanie Marchande

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars
This book was a pleasant surprise! Very well written and not the typical Alpha executive/submissive secretary story. Meghan has worked for Adrian Risinger for 5 long demanding years. At first his constant barbs and demands were hard to take, but then Meghan started giving back as good as she got and it seemed like Adrian even liked it. Meghan found some billionaire boss erotica and started reading it, only to be pulled into Adrian's office and be told that he was one that wrote them under a female pen name. Not only that, but he needed to have Meghan pretend to be the author at some book signings and conferences. There is so much more, but I wouldn't want to give any spoilers away.

Meghan totally kicked ass. She was blunt, up front, smart mouthed, and didn't take Adrian's shit. Adrian was tall, dark, and handsome, ridiculously rich, and underneath the barbs a sweet guy. Their chemistry was off the charts, and his appreciation for her voluptuous figure was honest and sexy. I'm a new fan of Melanie Marchande!

Review: Emerald's Billionaire Boyfriend - Book 1 (Billionaire Boyfriend Series

Emerald's Billionaire Boyfriend - Book 1 (Billionaire Boyfriend Series
Emerald's Billionaire Boyfriend - Book 1 (Billionaire Boyfriend Series by Kiera Zane

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Our heroine's name is Emerald Isles

She has been eyebanging a cute hottie on the subway train and after they finally have a conversation, her phone ends up missing...but when she calls it, he answers and arranges a convoluted meetup that ends up being a lunch date. This, and even more similar behaviors just felt creeptastic.

Emerald and Marcus didn't connect with me :( I didnt like her spoiled attitude and he was kind of a creeper. Its a serial, so perhaps there is some redemption later in the series.

The Headless Horseman Gave Me a Ladyboner: A Sleepy Hollow Rewind

Abraham may not be as pretty as Ichabod, but when it comes to burning passion, right now he is kicking Ichabod's ass. Apparently back in the day he kicked his ass, too, so...

So, that happened! At least Ichabbie had some quality time:

Review: Having it All by Kati Wilde

In the conclusion of the saga of Saxon and Jenny in the 3rd Hellfire Riders novella, happiness is just a dead Henchmen away. Saxon and Jenny are solid and hot as ever but the Henchmen came after them in a big way, and now Saxon won't rest until all of the racist bastards from the 88 Henchmen MC are dead and gone. The close call was too close for Jenny; growing up in an MC she knows that her man will take revenge seriously. If she steps in to take care of business her own way, Saxon will take it as a personal attack on his manhood. Jenny has to weigh whether she can live with Saxon alive and pissed at her or dead and just gone. However, with her father's health declining, she can't stand to lose Saxon, too. Their love is strong and lethal, and it's always great to have a SMART heroine. The boys (and lady!) in the Hellfire Riders are pretty badass as well.

Another great read in The Motorcycle Clubs series. Lily aka Zoomie and Blowback have been circling each other for a while now and maybe in the next novella we will find out why!

Review: Double Trouble

Double Trouble
Double Trouble by Ruby Dixon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shy has a problem. Her psycho jerk of a brother is a snitch for the 88 Henchmen, a truly bad, bad MC. When she accidentally overhears a conversation too many, her brother puts her on notice that if she breathes a word to anyone, he is going to let the 88 rape her and kill her. Shy knows that not all MC guys are bad, but she figures she should go after the biggest and the baddest to keep her safe from her crazy brothers, so she goes to a panty raid that his MC, the Bedlam Butchers, are throwing. Beast and Muscle are the club enforcers, and she makes a beeline for Beast, knowing that he and Muscle are team. She just has to get over her stutter and her virginity to make it happen. Beast and Muscle are visually opposites; Muscle is muscularly lean with a pretty face, Beast is a huge hulking figure with a permanent scowl. They each have a past to overcome; they also can tell that Shy is afraid of something or someone.

This was a great read. Shy and Beast connected first, and despite his huge imposing demeanor, he proved to be a gentle giant. Muscle was the one who seemed so easy-going on the outside, but had issues from his past that kept him from connecting to Shy at first. Shy was shy, but she had a backbone of steel, and of course, there were plenty of sexy times to be had!

Review: Their Private Need

Their Private Need
Their Private Need by Ella Goode

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Annie is in her mid 20's, lives at home, and is the local pastor's daughter. She wears simple, dowdy clothes and lives a simple boring life. Her father is judgmental and nearly oppressive; however Annie has quite a spirit and she wants more. She wants double, in fact. And ever since her boss at the library became the old lady of the president of the local MC, the Death Lords, she has the opportunity in her grasp. Annie has been watching Michigan and Easy of the Death Lords for a while now, and they have been watching her. Michigan and Easy were in the military together, and have been inseparable ever since. Can Annie handle the both of them?

Triads are a favorite trope of mine, and I loved this book. It's not over for these three - they have another novella after this one to conclude their story. I love Annie! Spicy, spunky, and ready to please her men. Michigan is all strong, silent, and broody, and Easy is just that- easy to smile, easy to please, but all business when it comes to the Club, Michigan, and Annie. Can't wait for the conclusion of their story!

Review: Taking it All by Kati Wilde

Taking it All is the 2nd book in the Hellfire Riders MC series, and the 6th book in The Motorcycle Clubs series. Here we continue with the story of Saxon and Jenny. Their connection is just as strong, but this book proves how much they have and are willing to go for each other. Jenny's father is sick and wants to patch over his club to the Hellfire Riders before it's too late. It seems like a good deal all around. The Riders are already strong and bringing over the smaller club will make them even stronger. This is perfect for Saxon and Jenny, but because her father's club has some old bad blood with Saxon's club, some old feelings are being dredged up. The biggest issue? There is an old rule that the President's old lady must prove her worth to the club by having sex with the president in front of the club, and even allow them to join in. With Jenny's background of being sexually assaulted, Saxon is never going to make her do this, but he must convince his club that this is the best choice. Meanwhile, Jenny knows MC life being the princess of her dad's MC, and doesn't want her love to choose between the club and her. Would she be able to do what it takes to keep that from happening?

As always this was a hot, quick read. I love Saxon, and I love Saxon and Jenny together. Jenny was smart and knew her self worth, but also knew the stakes. Saxon exudes power without being a blunt hammer; and he loves his woman! Has loved her for a long time. Another sexy novella from The Motorcycle Clubs team!

Review: Packing Double

Packing Double
Packing Double by Ruby Dixon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Bedlam Butchers do everything in doubles, including claim old ladies. Gemini and Domino have decided to claim Kitty, an adorable and spunky waitress at their local watering hole who is saving up cash to pay for college. Their plan is to convince her to commit to them, but Kitty's plan is to keep her independence, no matter much her two MC studs satisfy her.

This was another hot entry in the series, and I can't wait for the next. Kitty and Gem and Dom make quite a trio. I think the Butchers may just be may fave!

Review: Captivated by You

Captivated by You
Captivated by You by Sylvia Day

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm such a fan of Gideon and Eva, and the anticipation was killing me for this book to come out. On one hand, there was so much introspection through Gideon's point of view. He made several personal breakthroughs in this book. However, in the external sense of action, there isn't really much to report. Angel and Ace are as hot and connected as ever, with Gideon being over protective as usual and Eva fighting for her independence. They navigate land mines of their pasts, even as the past lurched forward in time to catch up with them. This novel was a love letter to Gideon's inner turmoil and struggle to balance everything life threw at him. The real issue in this book is how Gideon and Eva deal with happiness. The previous book as this one are setting up a lot of showdowns for the 5th and final(?) book in the Crossfire series. I'm expecting a hell of an ending!

Review: Her Secret Pleasure

Her Secret Pleasure
Her Secret Pleasure by Ella Goode

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars
Pippa knows plenty about the MC culture. Her dad is a nomad rider and when he gives her a heads up about an opportunity to start a new life in Fortune, the librarian jumps at the chance. Judge is the President of the Death Lords and as soon as he sees Pippa riding around town with the crooked chief of police, he knows she is going to be his. Unfortunately this pisses the chief off.

I liked Judge and Pippa. Judge is a little older and knows exactly what he wants, while Pippa has been taking care of herself for a long time and knows what she wants too. It was sweet how Judge was so open about his feelings for her, and they had some hot sexytimes.

Yet another great entry into the series. Monica and Jonathan are on a break, and Jonathan is refusing to compromise. Monica is not sure if she is ready to be his submissive so publicly. Jonathan will accept nothing less. They still have secrets between them, but some have been revealed. There is a pretty heavy cliffhanger at the end, so I am off to read the next one!

Too Rough For Love
Too Rough For Love by Adair Rymer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Star is living with her shady aunt and uncle while she is finishing up school. She works at their gas station since she doesn't pay rent. One day the Steel Veins MC rolls up and kills them, then kidnaps Star. The plan was to fuck her and kill her most likely but Remy had other plans. For some reason he kept protecting her and by the end of this part one, the cost may be a high one to pay indeed.

The story was interesting but went a little fast. I understood Remy, but Star was a little harder to get. They had fantastic chemistry though, and the book was a page turner! This MC is as callous and hardcore as they get, so if that's your bag this is for you.

Review: The Motorcycle Clubs Erotic Novellas, Books 1

His Wild Desire Off Limits Wanting It All

So this is a little different, but I am digging it. The Motorcycle Clubs Erotic Novellas series is actually 3 MC series by three different authors set in the same world. Overall, these books are hot, raw, and kinkalicious. Fans of the MC book culture know that motorcycle clubs can be filled with wild and frank sexual antics of any kind. The first books of these three series makes good on that understanding and bring even more to the table. This is true erotica set in the MC world, which is one of my favorite worlds, but there is also love and romance, and of course, danger and a bit of violence. A perfect cocktail!

The first novella, His Wild Desire by Ella Goode, comes out of the gate with a bit of a taboo. Chelsea Weaver and her step-brother, Grant "Wrecker" Harrison, are in love. They have been since they were teenagers. Chelsea has major abandonment issues; she was barely raised by her single mom who ended up married to Wrecker's father Judge, President of the Death Lords MC, when Chelsea was 14. Shortly after, her mother took off and she was raised by Judge. Wrecker has been recently released from prison; he went to jail for manslaughter for fatally winning a fight against a guy from a rival MC (the white supremacist MC the Eighty-Eight Henchman.) Now that he is home, he wants to make things official with Chelsea. They live under the same roof with Judge, and Wrecker is tired of hiding their relationship.

I don't know how Chelsea held out on Wrecker, because I couldn't have. He was sex on a stick, and the fact that their relationship could seem illicit because they were step siblings ramped up the desire and the kinkiness of it all. They were truly in love, and Wrecker was ready to shout it out and make her his old lady. I loved that! This was a great introduction to the overall series as well as the Death Lords series. 4.5 stars

The second novella, Off Limits by Ruby Dixon, introduces us to the Bedlam Butchers MC. Here's the thing about the Bedlam Butchers: They do everything in pairs. Yes, everything. Two Presidents, two VPs, etc. And when the partners decide to take a lover, they are tag teaming it. Lucky is (one of) the President's little sister. She has one of those ironic nicknames because she is actually bad luck; trouble follows her wherever she goes. However, she is dedicated to the Bedlam Butchers and is actually a great help with the books. She has also been eye-fucking Solo, a Butcher who's partner died two years ago. He hasn't picked a second Treasurer yet, and the club is losing patience. However, what Lucky doesn't know is that Solo has had his eye on her too, and when she is burning the midnight oil at the gym and the Henchmen attack the gym in search of her, Solo protects her...and does so much more.

Solo was a hard, sexy, slab of man. Despite Lucky's protests about bringing him bad luck, Solo claimed her unapologetically. The Bedlam Butchers are a different breed, and I really can't wait to read more about them! 4.5 stars

The third novella, Wanting it All by Kati Wilde, is about the Hellfire Riders MC. Jenny, whose father is the President of the Steel Titans, has a lot of guilt on her shoulders. When she was younger, Saxon Gray saved her from an attempted gang rape from the Eighty-Eight Henchmen. The main perpetrator was killed and Saxon had to serve 5 years on a manslaughter charge. Her father is dying of cancer; the Titans and the Riders are friendly with each other but there are still rules to navigate. When Jenny drops by a Riders bar, the Wolf Den, she knows she is courting trouble but she is willing to do that when she suspects that some Henchmen are following her on the highway. Saxon has wanted Jenny for a long time, and her guilt in his serving jail time has kept him from pursuing her. However, now times are changing and her father's MC may be making a deal with his MC that could change everything.

Saxon was a powerful, decisive, sexy man. He refused to blame Jenny for his jail time, and obviously wanted her, but he wanted her to want him with no reservations. Jenny was skittish, but Saxon laid everything on the line. Saxon refused to settle for less, and I loved him for it. 4.5 stars.

ARC Review: Broken Open by Lauren Dane

Broken Open (The Hurley Boys, #2)Broken Open (The Hurley Boys #2) by
5 STARS

First things first, Ezra Hurley's beard is absolutely everything.

Now that we have that established, we can talk about how Ezra is not only my favorite Hurley brother, but he is my favorite Lauren Dane book boyfriend. Yaaasss, this is serious! Ezra is walking, talking intensity; a big corn-fed farmer/rock star; and he happens to be fond of brown sugar. Swoon! He and Tuesday Eastwood have been eye-banging each other from the first time they met, their chemistry apparent to everyone. Tuesday's best friend is dating one of Ezra's younger brothers, and the attraction was instant. Ezra applies his quiet intensity to his pursuit of Tuesday like he does with everything else, and the result is some scorching hot reading. Tuesday is a tall Amazon goddess with great hair and is an artist to boot. She gives as good as she gets from Ezra and they perfectly compliment each other.

However, neither of them knows exactly where their seeing each other is going, and Tuesday and Ezra both have demons they are fighting. Ezra has been clean for several years but at the height of the success of his band with his brothers he became an addict. He is the eldest of the Hurley brothers and his guilt associated with his addiction still weighs on him heavily. Tuesday is a widow. Her husband passed away within a few months of a cancer diagnosis a few years previous, and she hasn't allowed herself to fall in love again. Despite their struggles, Ezra and Tuesday manage to be a power couple with a dynamic magnetism that draws the reader in. When Ezra walks into a room, Lauren Dane makes you wish you were Tuesday.

It is always a special treat to read about a character you can relate to, and as a woman of color I enjoyed Tuesday immensely. Lauren Dane did a fantastic job in writing a woman who was extraordinary in many ways; she had strength, honesty, and integrity with a mix of frank sensuousness, but she was also an ordinary woman who happened to be of color and she fell in love again after having loved tragically. Hat's off!

Did I mention Ezra's beard? He has tatts and piercings, too. Swoon!

ARC Review: Beyond Possession

Beyond Possession (Beyond, #5.5)

Sometimes in this job I get a WIN, like getting  to review novellas like Beyond Possession by Kit Rocha before they get released. *huge grin* As a card carrying member of The Broken Circle my fangirldom of Kit Rocha has been well documented right here. This time around, politics in Sector Four have reached a fever pitch. Tatiana Stone's father used to run his family and Sector Four like a wild west dictatorship before a bootlegger named Dallas O'Kane took him on...and took him out. The sins of the father have been passed down to Tatiana; his old accomplices who knew she was hands off when he was alive have tried to move in on her and those who were his enemies still don't trust her. Tatiana has raised her younger sister and tried to shield her from all of the nastiness, so much so that Catalina is naive and has fallen in love with Wallace, an old Stone supporter. Wallace wants to take on Dallas and is basically using Catalina to get to Tatiana, but Tatiana is doing everything she can to try to protect her sister while staying away from Wallace.

Meanwhile, Tatiana has been trying to avoid her feelings for Zan, an O'Kane soldier who comes by her shop to check on her. He was recently injured, so he hadn't been around, but absence absolutely made the heart grow fonder. Scuttlebutt in the Sector also pressed Dallas to make Zan connect with Tatiana and the game begins. Zan and Tatiana have real feelings for each other, but will the outside influences of their lives stop them before they really get to start?

LOVED this one. Zan is a sexy gentle giant and Tatiana is a fierce curvy beauty. Their chemistry is white-hot and who wouldn't want a big boy like Zan having your back? I devoured this in record time and as usual can't wait for the next.
