Review: Holding Strong

Holding Strong
Holding Strong by Lori Foster

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a hot MMA tale about a fighter who finally gives in to the perky woman who has had her eye on him. When both of their pasts come back to haunt them, can they stick it out? Great read, and stay tuned for the link to a detailed First Look at Heroes and Heartbreakers!

Review: Hard Rocked (Rock With You #1) BBW Rock Star Romance

Hard Rocked (Rock With You #1) BBW Rock Star Romance
Hard Rocked (Rock With You #1) BBW Rock Star Romance by Adriana Hunter

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I wanted to like this more than I actually did. The components were there; Melody is a successful lawyer on track to Junior Partner. After a cowardly breakup by text she drowns her tears at a hotel bar and runs into Scottish superstar Logan, lead singer of the band Revival. They have a hot and intense one night stand, but he left a note saying he wanted to see her again. A month later he reappears at her law firm with a suit against his manager.

There were some twists and turns in this book, some more unexpected than others. Logan is an adorable romantic, and Melody quite rightly isn't sure this fast moving relationship is genuine. I didn't connect as much as I expected to to the characters. Perhaps they get a bit more fleshed out in the next installment.

The Grimes Boys Think with their Johnsons: A Walking Dead Rundown

I didn't do a rundown last week because I didn't really have anything to add, but it was worth noting that this happened (bye Felicia)

and this (you ain't SHIT you lying ass snitch!)

and Abraham gave me a new curse word.

This week, Carl was all up in Enid's face, literally. If he is like his dad, then Enid is gonna turn out to be a)crazy or b)dead by next week. #TheWonderYearsOnTheWalkingDeadTho

Rick is just all the way tripping over a chick he just met. Time for me to undock my Richonne ship. A little crazy is sexy but he way out in left field somewhere. Getting in fights and shit. Just ugh.

Daaron walking around investigating crime like Batman and Robin.

Michonne the only person who got some damn sense...

...and ya'll done pissed her off. SMH.

As always, see all my gifs at Miss Boxy Frown's Lair.

ARC Review: Double or Nothing by Ruby Dixon

The Bedlam Butchers from The Motorcycle Clubs serial is back, and Ruby Dixon is continuing the story of Shy, Beast, and Muscle. This time around, Shy is determined to make her own way, and is finding her voice even more. She applies for and gets a job as a secretary, not knowing that the business has ties to a rival club. However, a member from that club has some serious evidence against Beast and threatens to turn it over to the police unless he gets Shy in his bed.

I was cheering Shy on the whole book! She has always been quiet and a bit clever, but her stutter and abusive background made her painfully shy. However, she has blossomed under the love and lust of her two old men, and her confidence is through the roof, especially when her men are threatened! As always a quick dirty read, and another sizzling entry in The Motorcycle Clubs serial.

ARC Review: Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde

First things first: 5 kick ass stars.

Ok, here is the rest: Set in the same world as the Reapers MC books, and even guest starring some of our favorite Reapers and their old ladies, the Silver Valley series will focus on the Silver Valley as a whole and not specifically on any one group. Silver Valley is close to Coeur d'Alene, home of the Reapers, so we can expect lots of crossover, as we have already met the Silver Bastards before this book.

Silver Bastard is about Puck and Becca. The night Puck and Painter (from the Reapers) got out of jail, Puck had a simple mission: get drunk and get laid. He didn't want a used up run of the mill sweetbutt; he wanted someone fresh and sweet to lose himself in. His prayers were answered when he saw Becca. She fit the bill exactly, but since she was raised around the Longneck MC, she obviously knew the club life. After an eventful and satisfying night with her, the next morning some of the niggling doubts he had about Becca's stepfather, Teeny, were confirmed. His great night with Becca was tainted with the misdeeds of her stepfather and mother, he beat Teeny's ass and took her away from that horrible place. It took 5 years, but Becca made a life for herself, with Puck observing from afar but still watching. Finally, Puck is ready to claim her once and for all. Becca has been attracted to Puck from the beginning, but watching her mother lose herself to bad biker after worse biker keeps her from wanting to be claimed.

The chemistry here is off the charts. Puck isn't your pretty boy; he is a big, muscularly lean man with a scar across his face that screams danger. Sometimes Becca can't tell if she is afraid of him or how she feels about him, because when they are anywhere near each other the awareness they have of each other is like a neon sign blinking "lust!" Becca has anger management issues which comes in handy when holding your own against a big badass alpha biker. There is a lot of shit between them, but no unnecessary drama; they fight, they fuck, and Puck tries to nail her down for the long haul. I loved every minute of it.

Silver Valley is full of interesting characters, and we meet quite a few of them. The great thing is that we will be getting to meet even more!

ARC Review: Ice Planet Barbarians Pt. 1 Stolen

A new serial by Ruby Dixon, one of trio of authors that bring us The Motorcycle Clubs serials, has arrived and has gone intergalactic. The Ice Planet Barbarians are here and they really like human women. Georgie was your average young woman with an average life until she wakes up kidnapped by some nasty looking aliens. She finds herself in a cell with several other young women who have also been abducted and quickly learns to keep quiet or their abductors will make sure in the worst ways that they will stay quiet. However, something happens during transit and the abductors have to ditch the cargo bay where the prisoners are being kept. After crash landing on an icy snow planet, Georgie is elected the leader of their group, and she reluctantly agrees to go scouting, where she encounters a whole new sexy alien beast.

A quick and dirty read, just the way I like it. Can't wait for the rest of the story!

Review: Owned by the Bastard

Owned by the Bastard
Owned by the Bastard by Sam Crescent

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This one didnt do it for me, but I did finish it. There is always a certain amount of suspension of belief in any story, but the sudden turnarounds of Demon and Deanna were a bit much to take. There were some editing/continuity issues that took me out of it, but it sounds like the next book in the series is an improvement on this one!

Biker Babe (BBW Motorcycle Romance)
Biker Babe (BBW Motorcycle Romance) by April Ryder

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a hot little read about a bored curvy housewife who has had it with her aloof husband and disrespectful college aged children and flies the coop. She gets in her car and drives until she runs out of gas and is assisted by a sexy younger biker who seduces her and shows her new life. Sexy sexy times!

Review: The Borrowed Billionaire Serial by Mimi Strong

3 stars by

This erotica series was a Kindle freebie that I decided to give a read, since I have read some erotica by Mimi Strong before. I decided to review them all as a whole body of work, and I'm glad that I did, since that decision dedicated me to reading all 5 in the serial. The first 2 reads, The Walk In and Lexie Goes Shopping, sets up something different than the last three, Return to Mr. Thorne, Under the Sea, and Set it on Fire finished, and that is a good thing since the finish in the series was strong.

When we first meet Lexie we find a driven young businesswoman with a serious kinky side. The first two reads could have been the start of vignettes of Lexie's raunchy adventures, but the last three reads seemed more focused while maintaining the sexy and bawdy tone. The heat is turned up to 10 here, and if you are looking for a kinkalicious diversion, this serial is it.

Rick is Bae: The Walking Dead Rundown

The Ricktocracy appreciated the hot showers (mostly...*ahem Daryl*) but otherwise being behind walls with a bunch of people they don't know felt like some bullshit. Here's are a few highlights. There will be a lot of Rick in these highlights because HELL YES. For even more of Rick and crew go to my tumblr, Miss Boxy Frown's Lair.

Rick took a shower

Rick shaved

Rick answered the door

Michonne swooned

Carol is playing opossum

Daryl refuses to shower...

...but at least he brought dinner

Deanna made Mom and Dad the law round these here parts. (BTW who the fuck says constable?)

We met a couple of assholes

Rick is taking this bitch over if they don't get it right!

ARC Review: Risking it All by Kati Wilde

We are back in Hellfire Riders territory with this fifth novella in the serial and are smack in the middle of the relationship between Lily aka Zoomie, a fully patched female Rider, and Jack aka Blowback, the Rider's Warlord and phantom menace. Lily and Jack have been going hot and heavy for the past month because of a bet that she lost, giving Jack 30 nights in her bed. Lily has had feelings for Jack for a long time, and Jack for her, but because of their backgrounds neither of them is great about communicating their feelings. (Jack is a survivor of adolescent abuse and former military covert operations soldier, Lily military vet and MC brat who's father would roll over in his grave if he knew she had been patched in as a Rider.) According to Lily's calculations, time is up and Jack has been a no-show for the past week. However, her tenuous relationship with Jack isn't the only problem she is facing. The Riders are facing opposition from another MC trying to muscle in on their territory and together or not, Lily and Jack are Riders first.

I have been rooting for these two for a while! I love them both, and love how they are written. Jack is all romantic and loving underneath his stone cold killer shell, and the fact that he can't get enough of Lily is sexy as hell. The fact that he believes in Lily so staunchly is sexy as hell, too. He proves it at the end of the story and the resulting scene had me doing a happy dance and huge cheer. Lily proved her self in the end, and so did Jack!
