"Manifest" is the new "Lost" and I'm Already Hooked

Ever since the extended trailer for "Manifest" on NBC premiered, I thought it was cool and knew I wanted to watch the premiere. The premise is this: A plane flying back from Jamaica to the USA hits a bit of turbulence, but is otherwise fine. However, when the plane lands, the passengers have found out that they have been missing and presumed dead for 5 1/2 years.

Say what?

From there it gets a little mystical. We are going along this ride mostly with Michaela, who was on the plane with her brother and terminally ill nephew; the rest of the family took their original flight. She starts to hear herself whispering in her own head...but it ends up helping to save people. And it turns out her brother can hear himself, too. All of the passengers are connected by some mystical thread, and it will be so fun to unwind this mystery...as long as the resolution to this series is that they were actually dead the whole time (glaring at you, Lost.)

Anyhoo, Twitter was on fire last night, and yours truly has a featured tweet! Check it out below, and check out Manifest Mondays on NBC at 10pm Eastern time.

8 Burning 'Manifest' Questions That Kept Twitter Up All Night After That Explosive Premiere

Credit where credit is due, NBC's "Manifest" premiere dropped enough tantalizing mysteries to keep the show trending high on Twitter all night long as fans tried to wrap their heads around it.

His for Now His for Now by Sofia Tate
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cute and hot!

Manhattanite Blakely is curvy and busy and is squeezing in as much work as possible while she is in Nevada for her bestie's wedding. Enter tall drink of water and rancher Ronan who goes into full pursuit mode once he realizes Blakely will be staying at his ranch for the week.

These two have a great meet-cute and their chemistry is sizzling hot. Very sexy read, and I always love a good HEA!

Review: Remy by Katy Evans

3.5 stars

If you are super into Remy and Brooke, you will enjoy this book from his perspective. I tend not to enjoy these kinds of books because I crave new stories; Remy's new info was more novella length. I enjoyed it for the most part.

Review: Chaser

Chaser Chaser by Kylie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Dive Bar series and in short I loved it. Eric was the most narcissistic manwhore in the first two books, but his story arc into this book was very believable and just downright sweet.

Eric meets Jean and it is lust at first sight...until he finds out that she is pregnant. They end up friends, a new proposition for Eric, and of course eventually fall in love.

I'm hoping that we get an Andre book!

Delicious Flesh Series Snack

Somehow I missed this little collection of shorts! If you like the Flesh series, you will love these and crave more. If you aren't sure about zombie apocalypse erotica, this is a great intro to this series.

Review: Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai

Hurts to Love You (Forbidden Hearts, #3)Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wonderful Conclusion

Gabe and Eve round out the trilogy of the Oka-Kane-Chandler story. Secrets, new and old, are revealed and make this picture whole. But lets get to the good stuff: Gabe is a complicated hottie and Eve has much more depth to her than you think.

At 35 Gabe feels to old to lust after the 12 years younger and curvy Eve, but he can't help the way he feels. Eve has had a crush on Gabe for forever and while researching ride share services she ends up being Gabe's regular pickup, known as Anne. Between this and spending a lot of time together before her brother's wedding, Eve gets the courage to act on her crush.

This was a wonderful mix of spicy and sweet with a dash of telenovela. Loved this book and the trilogy!

ARC Review: Ivan by Kit Rocha

Love is seriously in the air in Sector One, but so is the crushing reality of duty. Maricela, the baby sibling of the royal Rios family, is all grown up and feeling very adult feelings for Ivan, her personal guard and member of the famed Gideon's Riders. Ivan is honored to be a Rider, but his attraction to Gideon's youngest sister can never be acted upon...or so he keeps telling himself.

Kit Rocha promised a slow burn with Maricela and Ivan, and boy did they deliver. The yearning and angst juxtaposed with the innocent erotica of shared glances and slight touches was page flipping fuel for me.

Gideon, the living prophet of Sector One's religion, has placed his youngest sister under the protection of arguably the most serious of his Riders. Where family connections are of supreme importance,  Ivan has a history of sinners and a literal saint weighing on his mind. Familial obligations weigh heavy on Maricela. Her older sister reminds her almost daily of the responsibility and duty to the Rios legacy to make a smart marriage choice.

Both Ivan and Maricela knew their feelings for each other couldn't be the right or smart choice and denied them as long as they could but uh...when it goes down, it really goes down. Wowza.

Ivan and Maricela's love story is set in the post apocalyptic world you should be familiar with by now (and if you aren't start with Beyond Shame or even Ashwin and catch up, wtf, have you read my blog before?), but the dawn of a new day in the sectors promises the possibility of previously impossible love matches. BRING THEM ON KIT ROCHA!

Review: A Princess in Theory

A Princess in Theory A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Everything you want from a romance like this is here. The secrets, the sweetness, the villains, the handsome prince, and the princess that knocks convention on its ass. I loved it!

Naledi is a busy grad student on her way to being a proper epidemiologist. She keeps getting what she thinks are scam emails from someone representing a prince from a small African nation. Turns out its not a scam, and Ledi is actually betrothed to Prince Thabiso. Thabiso decides to meet Ledi when he is next in New York and falls for her fast...so fast he pretends he is the new hire at her catering job. It all takes off from there and twists and turns in the best ways.

It looks like there will be even more, so I am excited for the next books in this series...the side characters were great!

Review: Sebring

Sebring Sebring by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sebring completes the Unfinished Hero series from Kristen Ashley. I re-read all the books before coming to this one, and Nick's redemption arc was worth the wait. (I know I'm super late reading this story though. I have no idea where I was when it came out because BRUH. Nick is fucking hot.)

Because KA's series are all set in the same world but I haven't read them all, I have no idea if some of the missing time of Nick's experience as a CI is someplace else but I suspect it is. In any case, I'm ok with how KA moved the story along.

Nick and Olivia were chemistry personified. The way they met was sexy as hell and they kept the sexy times coming from start to finish. Olivia's world was devastating and cruel and the volatility she lived under through her family had me on pins and needles. Add in the fact that Nick came to her to get to her family in the first place, and it makes you wonder how much Olivia can deal with.

A fantastic finish to the series. KA had a particular voice that I fell in love with way back with Knight, and he is still my fave, but I have a lot of love for all of the Unfinished Heroes.

Cute and spicy read

When I started reading this book I was concerned that the hero was going to be an alphahole, but he turned it around, I'm happy to report. Very sexy in places, and I'm happy to have found this series after the books are out so I can move on to the next book and devour it!
