Review: Lucifer's Sin

Lucifer's Sin Lucifer's Sin by Lisa Renee Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars
Lucifer's Sin is the first of Lucifer's Trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones. This honest review is in exchange for an arc and is not paid.

LRJ drops the reader right into the action, which is always appreciated. Luke, aka Lucifer, and a Walker Security contractor, has been given a warning that his ex-fiancee and FBI agent, Ana, is on a hitlist. Their history is complicated. They have a lot of history, distrust, and anger between them. They also have sizzling heat, instant attraction, and complicated feelings as they are both hurt from the past.

Ana is a kick-ass heroine, an agent but highly skilled on top of that due to her step-father. She is a perfect match for alpha-male Lucifer, who respects her talents, even if he challenges her. This book is fast-paced, well written, and literally leaves you wanting more as there is a bit of a cliffhanger.

If you are craving a second chance romance, enemies to lovers, romantic suspense kind of thrill, you will be happy with this book. It was a sexy, action-filled diversion from my typical erotic romances!

Review: Claimed

Claimed Claimed by J.R. Ward
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Girl, the WARDen did not listen to her Rice Krispies when she wrote this book.
This was romantic suspense wearing paranormal clothing. There were, in essence, no werewolves. Be prepared for that. I'm disappointed because I was anticipating the rich kind of worldbuilding that we have seen from her previously. Frankly, it was slow so I'm glad I had the audiobook. With the reveal at the end I thought I had missed something, but no, it was just sort of randomly placed. As a mystery, there were interesting elements but I ultimately wished this book was more like the BDB books and other books from the extended BDB universe. A miss for me, and I sincerely love the BDB world.

Review: American Queen

American Queen American Queen by Sierra Simone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This has been on my list for a while now and I finally listened to the audiobook. This hot triad puts the youngest Pres, his best friend the VP, and his wife together. From her point of view we get her history with both of the men and how she is poised as a perfect political wife and ally. Erotic, yes, but also a sweetness and a love between the three is apparent. I'm definitely in on the sequel!

Review: Grading Curves

Grading Curves Grading Curves by Naima Simone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spicy and full of heart

This is an older woman/younger man bwwm interracial romance about a college professor who hooks up with the tattoo artist who gives her her first tattoo only to find him in her class the next day.

This was absolutely a very spicy book but also had so much heart. Each maim character had back stories that gave them depth and made their connection make sense. Loved it. Also a great audiobook! I listened first then read it over.
