Review: Captured In Ink

Captured In Ink
Captured In Ink by Donna McDonald

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This cute and sexy read is part of the Art of Love series. Shane Larson had a one night stand with Reesa Callahan and couldn't find her for weeks. Then fate intervened and he wound up on her doorstep by chance. Reesa is older than Shane by 7 years and is raising her deceased sister and brother-in-law's 4 children, ranging in age from 5 to 15. She needs a mature, stable man, not a young guy like Shane. However, Shane is ready to prove that he is the man she wants, and can be the man she needs.

It's always nice to get a chance to check in on the others in the series as well as reading about the main characters. Shane and Reesa had great chemistry, and to see them have those little moments of passion was so hot! The children in the story were so fun, but realistic as they were dealing with the loss of their parents. Another great read!

I occurred to me that A Pimp Named Slickback and Huey and Riley Freeman may have a lot to say regarding GoT.

Review: Torn from You

Torn from You
Torn from You by Nashoda Rose

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was up and down with this book, but ultimately I ended up liking it more than I expected.
Emily was kidnapped and became part of a sex trafficking ring that included her underground fighter boyfriend Logan aka Sculpt.

It was apparent to me early on that Logan was as much of a victim in this situation as Emily. He was required to fight for Raul, the ringleader, and if he lost, he would have to give up Emily as a toy. I have never been kidnapped or been a sex traffic worker, but I pretty much almost through my Kindle across the room when she almost ruined a huge opportunity for she and Logan. I actually stepped away from the book for a day and came back to make myself finish it.

Having said that, there were some other very compelling characters in the book and I'm really interested in continuing the series. This book had a lot of layers, and while I couldn't stand Emily for most of the book, I found the story fascinating and want to see where some of the other storylines go.

The Rundown: Game of Thrones, Breaker of Chains vs Clueless

For some reason, the thought of Margaery still being a virgin after burying 2 husbands made me think of the movie Clueless. So, here are some Cluelessish quotes with this week's GoT memes. Enjoy (or not.)

Review: With You

With You
With You by Nashoda Rose

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"With You" is the prequel novella to a very different full novel in "Torn from You".

Emily asks Sculpt, a friend of a friend and an underground fighter, if he can teach her how to fight. She wants to learn for self defense and initially he laughs her off, but eventually agrees to help her. After a couple of months of practice, the sparks start to fly big time and Sculpt and Emily start dating.

Sculpt has a mysterious past that he doesn't talk about, and Emily has a crappy past that makes her get in her head a lot. However, they "get" each other on a different level, and their love blossoms until one fateful night. Then things change forever.

What a sweet beginning to a darker series. It gives you a chance to see how each of these characters, despite their upbringings, had an almost innocent start to a love affair.

Review: Conflicted Love

Conflicted Love
Conflicted Love by Lola Stark

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars for histrionics
Teeny is preggers, and hasn't told Trip that he is the father after their alcohol fueled one night stand several weeks ago. They used to be great friends with some sexual tension, but after that fateful night their relationship has turned dramatic and emotional. Teeny is always mad at Trip, and he has no idea what he has done wrong. What he does know is that he is having a baby, and he wants the baby and Teeny in his life, permanently.

This was cute and sexy. I always roll my eyes at the hormonal pregnancy dramatics, but some women can be like that when they are pregnant. And I stay away from them. I just didn't like the way Teeny pushed and pushed and pushed Trip away, then acted surprised (well, had a temper tantrum) when he peaced-out.

I'm actually very excited to read the next book, so I'm tapping my feet impatiently.

Review: Tattered Love

Tattered Love
Tattered Love by Lola Stark

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a hot little surprise! Tattered is about Scarlett, a female tattoo artist who owns her own shop and prides herself on not being a girly-girl and Mace, a former special ops alpha male who walks into Scarlett's tattoo parlor and knows she is the one.

They have instant heat and chemistry, but Scarlett knows that Mace is holding something back. Meanwhile, Mace is falling harder and harder and trying to break through Scarlett's hard shell.

This was a sexy and fun read, and as soon as I finished, I one clicked the next in the series! Great read.

Review: His to Dominate

His to Dominate
His to Dominate by Ava Joy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a quick, hot, and dirty read. I liked it a lot!

Mia is a plus sized secretary at under the powerful Collin Stark. She is called into his office at the end of the day so that he can interrogate her about her resume; she omitted her higher education and he thinks she may be a corporate spy. In order to prove her innocence, she must do as he says...and she can start by getting naked.

Collin was the perfect mix of restrained and passionate, and he and Mia had great chemistry together. The start to a sexy serial!

Review: The Lost Souls

The Lost Souls
The Lost Souls by Madeline Sheehan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ahhhh what a tease this is until the last book of the trilogy comes out. So many things happen here in a short little bite, but people are changed forever. Lives are changed forever. And finally, someone realizes what the world is truly up against.

Hot, sexy, scary, and action packed. I cannot wait for the conclusion!

The Rundown: Game of Thrones, The Lion and the Rose

The moment I was waiting for finally arrived! Such a great episode.

1. Bran and crew are still on their mission, but Bran is not happy with his lot in life at the moment.

2. Tyrion and Jaime have a rare Lannister heart to heart.

3. Which led to an epic snark off/sword fight between Ser Bronn and Jaime.

4. Something is really wrong with Ramsey Snow.

5. Stannis Baratheon and his crew...they wear me out.

6. Joffrey was having the best day ever:

Until Karma, the baddest bitch ever, showed up with a vengeance and Joffrey died the same way he lived:
Fin.

BONUS:
You can't keep a Stark down:

Review: One More Day

One More Day
One More Day by M. Malone

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars
After reading the hot little novellas Teasing Trent and Tank, I was expecting a full on erotica novel, but got a sweet contemporary romance instead. Jackson is a widower with 2 children, a music career, and a great familial support system. Ridley is the twin sister of his neighbor, supermodel Raina. When Ridley gets caught up in a life or death situation, she poses as her sister and ends up staying with Jackson to stay safe.

Ridley and Jackson had great chemistry, and it was a nice read.

The Rundown: Scandal, Flesh and Blood

Here's The Rundown! Next week I'll be at Heroes and Heartbreakers, but this week Kwana Minatee-Jackson has a detailed recap there. Check it out!
Every week I feel like Kevin Hart is speaking to my soul:

Last night, what DIDN'T go down?

1. Was Olivia on anybody else's nerves last night? She was wearing me out.

2. Mama Pope was fierce as usual last night.

3. Harrison decided to go on a Scooby and Shaggy errand.

4. Mellie snapped. Who can blame her at this point.

5. And umm, this happened. This relationship is like a durian fruit-stank and delicious.

6. Cy, you know you ain't right, and I love you for it! The Monster(TM) got his groove back!

7. #SavePapaPope
